Dinner Music: The weekly lineup
japanese techno-pop, swiss dream jazz and the weyes blood of the 70s
This week we’re globetrotting. Maybe it’s the turn of the weather (at least here in Texas), but I’ve been dreaming about the view out of an airplane window, Parisian cafés and hot, late nights. With the albums, we move through European modern jazz, the Kraftwerk of 1970s Japan, neo-Bollywood from a group out of Australia and two American folk/indie albums — one old, one new.
All of the music is about dreaming and moving. It’s good for long, long walks and an early evening glass of orange wine. The playlist fleshes out the vibe with more disco, surf rock and psych-funk. It should feel a bit like journeying — the initial descent, the adrenaline of the body, the rush of the mind and, finally, the settling into it all. Enjoy.

Pair with:
Citrus-Braised Pork With Crispy Shallots. I’ve been using a lot of citrus in my cooking to try and will spring/summer into being. Maybe it’s working, because it’ll be eighty degrees here next week.
Furlani Rosato. This is one of my favorite wines ever? It’s delicious, super juicy and fruity with a little bit of bubbles. Any wine skeptic I’ve ever met has enjoyed this wine, because what’s not to love? It’s the perfect rosé.
Major bonus alert: This amazing track from Meiko Nakahara from 1983. Her music isn’t on Spotify (damn shame!), but seems to be on Apple Music.
